15 Feb 2013TASK International passes Edexcel verification and review checks with flying colours

TASK International is an Edexcel Approved Centre

Examination board, Edexcel, recently visited TASK International’s offices to conduct its annual Quality Review and Development check on the company, as well as a BTEC Standards Verification check on both its Close Protection and FPOSi courses, to ensure that the practices, procedures and supporting standards are being adhered to correctly.

We are delighted to say that TASK International passed all three with flying colours.

The Quality Review & Development check is carried out at BTEC centres every year, to look at overall management and delivery of BTEC programmes from Entry to Level 3.

A subject specialist Edexcel Standard Verifier is appointed by the awarding body to undertake sampling of BTEC programmes to ensure that they are assessing to national standards and to encourage centres to continue to deliver best practice in vocational assessment, which we are and guarantee our students that we will continue to do so.

Well done to the team at TASK International for achieving another year of great results!

21 Jan 2013Great feedback received from FPOS course student

The following is a comment left on our Facebook page by one of the students who attended TASK International's FPOSi course 14 - 17 January 2013:
"Im in no way associated with TASK but wanted to write a review on the FPOS-I which ive recently completed in Ashford. The Instructor John was extremely knowledgable utilising his vast experience gained from 27 years in the forces both British and Foreign. The group was small enough that we all got enough attention and help from the instructor. It was both theory and practical based with the equipment being used way beyond my expectations. Dummies, gases, Fluids, Neck braces, AEDs, fake arms complete with fake blood, stretchers the works. Although we were only required to learn to a certain level John took us all above and beyond, explaining tools, definitions and equipment in great detail. There was never a question too bone, with everything being explained in great detail and to a level that we could all comprehend. The days were as long as needed them to be with John offering to stay extra if extra help was needed. The week offered more than enough opportunities for everyone on the course to get hands on with dummies as well as each other practicing the drills and skills until both ourselves and the Instructor were happy with. Ultimately i cant recommend the course enough. Nice setting, great price and overall an instructor that genuinely wanted to impart his knowledge to the blokes, knowing the tough situations we can find ourselves in. Overall i left feeling confident in my abilities and confident i will be able to do the best i can with the kit ive got. highly recommend the course for anyone contemplating doing it. Ash"

Having come from a civvy background, Jonathan is one of a number of students to complete TASK’s CP course without having any previous military training, demonstrating that a military background is not a necessity to be successful in the course.

We asked Jonny a few questions about the course and how he found the experience.

16 Aug 2012Successful Olympic Security Operation Highlights Employability of Former British Service Personnel

Photograph: Owen Humphreys/PA

One of the most lauded elements of the security operation surrounding the London Olympic Games was the overwhelming contribution of the UK armed forces. Visitors, media and officials alike applauded not only their professionalism, but the courteous manner in which the 18,000 service personnel involved conducted their duties. The Olympics therefore served as a very public reminder of the incredibly valuable skill set possessed by servicemen and women of the British military and the many ways in which these skills are highly sought after in the private sector.

15 Jun 2012Ex-TASK students work with The Inkerman Group to clamp down on illegal gambling at sporting events

Ex-TASK students Jon Bibby, Ross Turner and Adam Bunney

The Inkerman Group’s security team who are currently onsite at Edgbaston Priory Club, Birmingham for the Lawn Tennis Association’s 2012 AEGON Classic tennis, have been praised by one of Warwickshire’s County Cricket players for their ‘great anti-corruption work’ in tackling illegal gambling syndicates at sporting events.

Unusual activity by a group of spectators aroused suspicion amongst the security team, forcing the gentlemen to be removed from The Centre Court. The group were thought to have been involved in onsite gambling, which is prohibited at the club, however following a conversation with the close protection officers and confirmation of their identities, it was confirmed that this was not the case and the group were free to return to the match.

The sportsman complimented the team’s vigilance against gambling, which is fast becoming a problem at sporting events, and agreed that his behaviour could have looked suspicious. Having seen the funny side, he later tweeted a picture of three of The Inkerman Group’s security officers with the caption ‘The 3 men from The Inkerman Group, doing great anti corruption work at #Aegon classic tennis!’

This is the third year that The Inkerman Group have supplied security services to the LTA, which includes VIP Close Protection at its events at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne, Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham and at The Queen’s Club in London.

A number of the security team, including the three in the photo, trained for their Close Protection licence with The Inkerman Group’s specialist training company, TASK International and have been employed by The Inkerman Group this year as part of the 140-strong team providing security services to the LTA tournaments – a prestigious fixture in the company’s sports security programme.

One member who recently gained his door supervisor and CCTV licences used the site to ask others about their knowledge of TASK International ahead of booking his CP Course.

Some of the feedback provided by other members included;

“You won’t go wrong with TASK International”

“They have a very good rep”

“Would say they would be with in the top 10 of non-Higher Education Training Providers at the moment”

TASK International is delighted to see such great feedback about its courses and is pleased to see that CP World works so effectively for its members. It is great to see that people within the security industry are genuinely interested in helping others to succeed and progress in their careers by offering helping advice and support.

TASK International Close Protection Course

In the final week of the intensive three week Close Protection course run by TASK international, students were today put through 105 minutes of gruelling physical assessments followed by Unarmed Combat training.

The afternoon consisted of Physical Intervention Exercises, which consolidates the theoretical use of conflict resolution and physical intervention training by means of practical role play scenarios as a Close Protection Officer and as part of a Close Protection team, simulating real-life examples of what Close Protection Officers could be faced with when they are protecting principles and their families once they are qualified.

9 Feb 2012Close Protection students aren't put off by snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures

The latest team of recruits attending TASK International’s Close Protection course always knew that the course would be challenging but what they didn’t know was that they would have to contend with snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures all week as well! However, the students and trainers weren’t perturbed by the weather and week two of the course continued – after all, Close Protection Officers are always prepared for unpredictable situations!

In week one of the intensive three-week course, the trainee Close Protection students went through a number of classroom based theory sessions, including Roles and Responsibilities of a CP Officer, Operational Planning, Laws and Legislation, Use of Communication, Surveillance Planning and Map Reading before moving onto the practical exercises in week two. Students were put through their paces during the surveillance exercises in the local area, covering practical use of surveillance techniques, designing an operational plan and delivering a team briefing. In their final week the students will receive Unarmed Combat and Anti Ambush Driving training ahead of their final exams.
